My Reading Notes

I use Evernote to record everything about my life, which includes my notes on what I am currently reading. I have made my "reading notes" notebook public and anyone can access it here. They are notes so they are raw and choppy, but I think it's a neat idea for those of us who are reading and learning to share notes with one another.

Stuff Christians Like

So I run across this guy, Jonathan Acuff, who might be one of the most prolific, insightful bloggers writers I have encountered. This is my favorite of his blogs. It is funny and channels the collective consciousness of the bizarre breed of us church junkies.

Renovare

Renovare has two purposes: a balanced vision of the spiritual life and a practical strategy for putting that vision into practice. This is the home of Richard Foster, Dallas Willard and their colleagues.

Fairbanks Creative

My beautiful, talented wife's freelance design website. Check it out!

What Matters

As close as the United Church of Christ gets to a "statement of belief," this is a helpful, concise description of the six historical emphasis of the UCC.

Progressive Revelation

Progressive Revelation contains the musings of our UCC Florida Conference minister, Kent Siladi. Pretty good stuff!

The Center for Progressive Christianity

The Center for Progressive Christianity along with The Phoenix Affirmations are two fine organizations, recently merged, that have been helpful for me in articulating my beliefs. The Center tends to be a bit cerebral, so hopefully their merger will help incorporate some heart with their head.

The Phoenix Affirmations

The public face of Christianity in America today bears little connection to the historic faith of our ancestors. It represents even less our own faith as Christians who continue to celebrate the gifts of our Creator, revealed and embodied in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Heartened by our experience of the transforming presence of Christ’s Holy Spirit in our world, we find ourselves in a time and place where we will be no longer silent. We hereby mark an end to our silence by making the following affirmations:

As people who are joyfully and unapologetically Christian, we pledge ourselves completely to the way of Love. We work to express our love, as Jesus teaches us, in three ways: by loving God, neighbor, and self.

The Burnside Writer's Colelctive

This "online magazine presenting an alternative to franchise faith" is online home of Donald Miller, one of my favorite contemporary writers.

Well, actually, Donald Miller has his own online home so I guess The Burnside Writers Collective is just where he hangs out. Anyway, it contains some really good reads.

Englewood Review of Books

Englewood Review of Books
One day I will have the opportunity to read all the books recommended in this weekly review of works relating to "community, mission, and the many-sided wisdom of God." It is a ministry of Englewood Christian Church in Indianapolis, Indiana.
